Bolden is an American musical drama film that follows the journey of Buddy Bolden. Referred to as an unsung American hero, Bolden is known to invent jazz form of music. Buddy Bolden was a cornet player from New Orleans who became a popular figure for introducing the new music form. His invention went on to influence countless musicians in the next decades. The film’s narrative is made of fragmented memories of Bolden’s past, due to availability of little biographical information and no recordings of his music. How Bolden rose from a mere cornetist to a key figure, conceiving his revolutionary music against political and social context forms the rest of the story.
