Laila Majnu, an Indian romantic film, is a modern remake of the classic folklore. The contemporary version of this love story, based in the present-day setup of Kashmir, revolves around problems faced by today’s youth. The lovers fall for each other in Kashmir’s mystical backdrop while their families are involved in a prolonged quarrel. The young couple is torn apart by, not only the families but also the world while they keep on putting a fight until they lose their minds as well as their lives. The natural escalation of feelings and credibility of characters allows one to revisit the modern version of a selfless love story.
