Mary Queen of Scots is a historical drama film based on the Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart biography by John Guy. The movie puts a light on the charismatic Mary Stuart’s turbulent life, starting from her being the Queen of France at 16 followed by a widow at 18. Instead of falling to the pressure to get remarried, she returns to Scotland to reclaim her throne, which is being ruled by her sister, Elizabeth 1. In the game of marriage vs independence, Mary threatens her sister’s sovereignty by asserting her claim on the throne. The movie unravels the history of the fight for the throne in an interesting way.
